Alt+Tab causes SoulseekQt to just disappear

I'm a newbie who just started using SoulseekQt today (4-10-2013 build). I had it running for awhile, downloading stuff, when I went to look at other stuff on the internet, and when I tried to go back to SoulseekQt, it had just disappeared from my taskbar, and the task manager didn't have it in the applications. I couldn't actually run it again until I went under processes in the task manager and ended SoulseekQt.exe that way, and then open it from my programs folder. This kept happening 3-4 times, and I finally noticed when it disappeared after only a few minutes and only downloading a few small files, that pressing alt+tab seemed to have done it. I'm using Windows 7, and I don't think this counts as it crashing, in fact I think the files keep downloading and everything, it's just that the SoulseekQt application vanishes. Has anyone else had this happen, and is there anything I can do about it?

Unshare subfolders

Hello, there!

I've shared all my Music folder with all users. There are a few subfolders I cannot share, though. I have a lot of stuff, so it would take days to share the subfolders one by one. An easier and much simpler solution would be to be able to add an exception to those few subfolders I can't/ don't want to share. Any one knows if it's possible?

I would really love to share my whole llibrary, which is vast, very organized and exhaustive, so I would appreciate any help.

Hello everybody. I´ve seen that when I browse user´s files, most part of the users have really tidy folders, usualy organized by artists-discs etc. I have a quite big music library, and everything tagged in itunes. The problem is that my files (wich people would see when they browse me) are really messy. I guess that the metadata of files is fine, but the actual organization in windows explorer of these files doesen´t reflect this. Does anyone know how can I solve this without having to expend a lot of time editing everything? I just want to make it easier to share.

Share privileges on SoulseekQt

Hello, i have the following issue with SoulseekQt. I bought some privileges on my username and i want to share some of the privileged days on another account. I work on a mac, so i used to do this via iSoul as SoulseekQt does not support sharing privileges. The problem at this time is that when i log in to iSoul i am not even seen as a privileged user. Is there another way to share privileges?

So, I got a new wifi internet service, and now I can't connect. I'm not very computer savvy, but I'm going crazy without slsk so I'm breaking down to ask for help.

It says the reason is that my ip port is closed and that I need to configure it. It gives a link, but the modem I'm using isn't listed, so I don't have any exact instructions to follow. I tried following instructions for a different modem, but they didn't end up helping.

Any advice? I have a huawei ce0683 pocket wifi modem.

hi I just install soulseek on a seedbox and am having a problem with it I don't know what it is wanted to see if anyone can help me out am running soulseek on OS Ubuntu on a seedbox I also tryed nicotine+ and the same thing happens to me with this client after running the client for a few min I get a massage saying from nx client Warning, the session log file exceeded the size of 3.8 MB. The session will be terminated soon and my connection to my server/seedbox gets terminated and I get disconnected its every time i run soulseek or nicotine+ so theses client are filling my log file for nx client with over 3.8 MB is there a setting on soulseek to setup for this to stop happening to me

All of a sudden client is permanetly "(Not Responding)"

Happened all of a sudden about a week a go.

Client hangs for no reason. I thought it was my upload slots which I increased to 15. However even reducing to 5 or 1, the only way to get the UI back is to force an "End Process" from the Task Manager.

Only other change happened a couple of weeks before that when I had my broadband upgraded.

My downloads aren't limited - even though I have none active at the moment
My Uploads are restricted to 15 slots and 1000kbps

Hardware: HP Workstation (Xeon 3.2Ghz Processor and 4Gb RAM)
Software: Windows Server 2003 SBS

Hi!
Long-term happy Soulseek user here. :-)

I have a recurring problem though, with my new installation of SoulseekQt on a wifi-connected WinXP PC and shared files on a NAS drive.

After some day the Soulseek tray icon always goes red and I can't really get it working. I then shut the program down, but it's still visible in the Task Manager and I have to kill it manually in order to restart it.

Can this be related to the PC losing contact with the wifi network and the shared files? Sometimes I notice that the PC has lost the connection for some minute, and I get the feeling that the Soulseek problem has appeared at those same occasions.

Btw, the tray icon never shows any tooltip when hovered, and nothing happens when right-clicked. This adds to the confusion... red icon, what does it mean, am I connected, what can I do, how can I try to connect, how can I shut it down, etc. Not even when everything works there is a tooltip or right-click menu. Surely there must be some good information to show in a tooltip and some good functions to reach by a right-click menu, just like in every other program? :-)

My problem is: everytime i start the app it requests me to log in with username and password, but immediately says that the password is not correct... but it should be!!!
Anyone can help me please??!

Question about sharing "list only"

Hey Nir,

So back a few years when I was using the older client NS, I noticed that if someone was sharing "list only" files, when I went to browse their files, I could still at least see their files - and only when I went to try downloading from them did my queue reflect and say "file not shared" (or something like that.)

I really enjoyed being able to see the entire shares of a user, even if they were list only, because from a networking perspective, I found it to be incredibly helpful when communicating and negotiating (for lack of better word) with said list-only user to maybe have a mutual "add me" to our lists. It helped those 'list only' sharers meet new people while still not blocking people's searches when they try to browse shares.

Is this possible currently in the Qt client?

Can someone search for a term, see my file in their results and browse my files to see my shares, even if I'm list only? Or are they totally 100% blocked to even see my shares once I set to list-only?

I hope there is a way to go back to the old way of "everyone can see everyone's shares but still have list-only downloads resulting in "file not shared" where applicable."

Just curious if there is a setting in Qt that I missed perhaps that will allow this.

i am excited with the new updates but, when selecting Application Color and Fonts, it simply crashes, closed by windows..

Soulseek through public IP???

Hi there!

Since last week my SoulseekQt client (now version 2013.5.18, but this started with the previous one) takes a my public IP address (i.e. 81.xx.xx.xxx.xx) instead of my private 192.68.1.xx when I check the ports. No idea why this is happening or how it started, nothing has changed with my router or my ISP, and of course through that address I cannot connect correctly to Soulseek nor can I open any ports.

I have carefully read through the port forwarding manuals and I have searched the net looking for a solution but does not look like a common problem. My computer runs Windows XP and if I ipconfig through the DOS console, I get the right private IP address. I have a 100MB fiber connection, apparently I am not going through any proxy (nothing shows up in the different browsers), I have reset the router (Comtrend 5813) and everything was fine anyway.

I have already spoken to my ISP (Movistar Spain) and they say that they do not support Soulseek problems and it must be a problem with the client software, since they check and everything is fine.

Anyone can help?

I just signed up to soulseek. to login I need a password, although it wont let me change it to a password I know as it asks for the current one which has not been sent to me so in effect I cant start downloading =[
when I go to request a new password, I get sent a link that is suppose to let me reset my password but I am then again asked for my current one which I have no idea what it is.

Nir,

Rather than possibly cluttering up the Feature Request page with an impossible task, I was just curious about something so I thought I'd ask you here first. I hope that's not a problem.

Basically, I am just curious if there is any feasible way to implement a sort of "per user group" upload limit. For example, all my users in the list called "Test" will have an upload speed limit of 100kb/sec (per user in the group). And for my user group called "Test2" they would have say, no limit, and so on.

Would a per-user-group upload limit be possible, or would that involve serious overhaul of code and whatnot? Perhaps this option would help highlight the benefits of actually taking the time to create and make use of this great Soulseek feature. I for one absolutely love having the power to configure my user list using groups, but I wonder how many people just glaze over that.

Just brainstorming. Either a upload-limit on a group-wide or a per user-in-group approach, I think both could work for Soulseek's advantage. Perhaps in the long haul.

With the last 2 releases, while Soulseek is running, I can't access the internet nor the pop server my email goes through. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64 and use both Chrome and IE to access the web. Soulseek itself runs just fine.
