Does soul seek work on a Mac?

Hi. I,ve been until recently a PC user and was using soul seek. Can someone use soul seek on a Mac (I think this said it's a Mac 5,1). Or is there a similar programme which is more compatible with a Mac.
(Please note -I'm only just competent on a PC and know less about Macs so any massively in-depth technical help may leave me baffled).
Any advice that someone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Dom

I was invited by a friend to use this application. I downloaded it and it was immediately flagged and killed by my Norton antivirus, WS.Reputation.1. What this means is that the app is extremely unsafe and poses a very high threat to your computer. BEWARE.

Removing downloading files

When I remove files that are beiing downloaded from a user I gave permission to upload, the files keep downloading one by one. Remove that single file and the next one shows up.

I am not receiving any search results

Can anyone help. I am using a Mac OSX and was able to search and download just fine a few days ago, all of a sudden it stopped working. I am able to search groups and browse user files and download from those file lists. But when doing any search, I get no results. Please help!!!!

Restart your client

Hello guys,
I'm new to soulseek and I've been using it on a mac for a few weeks and it worked just fine until now.
I basically can't connect to anything and when I check my ports it says:
Your router and Soulseek client is configured correctly.
Don't forget that you need to restart your client if you modify your listening port.
I have no clue what to do if someone would help that'll be great since I don't want to lose this amazing program!

Disappears

I download SS and start to transfer files. I minimize the program and it vanishes. I uninstall in order to start over, and I cannot install a new copy--I get an error message "Error opening file for writing," which I then have to Abort.

Need to optimize settings for 2013.4.10

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. SoulseekQT was working fine until this last update (2013.4.10). What happens is that I'll search for something, which brings up results the first time, but any subsequent searches will return no results. If I restart the client, again, the first search I try will work, but nothing further. That was originally on port 2242 I believe. I switched to a lower port (80) and 2 searches worked in a row, the appeared in my transfers tab, but nothing would actually begin downloading. When I restarted the client, the downloads related to both searches began. So, in summary, the client is working, but only when I continually restart. Any ideas?

Crash when highlighting a dash with the cursor

SoulseekQt crashes when the mouse cursor highlights a dash (en dash?). This can be reproduced by copying a title of a release listed on discogs.com and then pasting it to the search field. Then when highlighted by the mouse cursor, SoulseekQt crashes. This has to be done by dragging the cursor, not by clicking the field.

Wish List Searches Tab

Dear Nir, dear helpful slskers,
I make much use of Soulseek's almighty and everlasting wishlist feature. Kudos for this, it's very convenient, as I tend to forget whatall I was looking for.
However, it disappeared completely. When I open the wish list searches tab, it shows no results. The column to the right displaying all the terms I hope to find is also gone. It's just a blank window in the familiar soulseek-grey.
Manual searches work just fine. When I click "add to wishlist" on a search term, however, it's not added and the list is still gone. Restarting the client doesn't make any difference.
I'm running SoulseekQt build 2013.4.10 on a Windows XP SP3 2011 pc.
If anyone knows what this problem is, I'd be grateful for your advice.

I am working for a browser client written with JavaScript.
I think this would be a great thing and could be used on every os.
So my question would be, is there a API or other kind of docu for the
Server communication. Also do i need a ok to programm this client?
I am pretty sure, this is possible and documentation or Infos about
soulseek protokolls would make it way faster to develop.

Slow Speeds with SoulseekQT

I was noticing very poor speeds with soulseekqt, now ive done some testing on other platforms uploading to the same users as i did on soulseekqt
Here is the thing, if i upload to a user on soulseek my upload runs at max 700KB/s (my max is 12000KB/s
Now i tried to upload the same files on DC++ and what happens, they go steady at 12000KB/s
That seems to me as a way to big difference of 500KB/s
Of course nothing else was running on my pc or internet connection while testing this.
Now i wonder why this is are isp's throttling slskqt or is it in the software itself?

Open Folder context menu option in Downloads often does nothing

Minor usability nit:
In the Downloads list, when I right-click on a file or folder and choose "Open Folder", it only attempts to open a folder of completed downloads, even if I clicked on a file that is incomplete or hasn't started downloading yet. And if there's no completed downloads folder, nothing happens.
What I would rather happen is this: When I "Open Folder" on an incomplete file (queued, downloading, aborted, etc.), open the corresponding incomplete downloads folder, if one has been created. Same goes for when I "Open Folder" on a folder that has no completed downloads.
And if no incomplete downloads folder has yet been created, or if for any other reason nothing would happen, I expect the "Open Folder" option to be unavailable.

How to automatically show what your itunes is playing in Chat

On soulseex, a user said that he just has to type /np and it will automatically display what he is playing from his iTunes. I'm using the most current version of SoulseekQT on a mac. Rather than type out what I'm playing in chat with "/me np: [insert band and song here]," is there a way for soulseekqt to do it automatically with a command, like soulseex does?
