Hack or bot utilizing your wishlist?

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but this really looked like a hack attempt to me.

I saw that I had a wishlist result for a pretty rare album, but when I checked it out, the album was an exe file, and the specific filename that it presented seemed suspicious. The album name wasn't quite right, and was in a folder named APPS-WAREZ-MUSIC-GAMES-XXX-MOVIES-MISC-eBOOKS. Out of curiosity I chose "download folder" and ALL of the files in that folder had suspicious looking variations of items on my wishlist, many of them quite rare or nonexistent on Soulseek. These were the only files in the folder, and were all EXE files, as if they were specifically tailored for me. Seems legit, right?

Is anyone else aware of this sort of activity going on? This is the first time I noticed it in my years with Soulseek.

Is there an exploit that makes a wishlist visible to a bot or hacker, that needs to be fixed, or is that part of the normal functionality of Soulseek? I've never tried to view someone elses wishlist so I don't know if it's possible...

Mac Trouble right after install

Hello!

I've downloaded the latest mac version of soulseek.

When I go to run it from my applications folder, it
starts,
asks for login
asks for share folder
and then the dialog closes
and everything hangs

in the soulseek menu ((which still works), things like 'quit' are greyed out. Even the little red gold green top left window buttons don't work.

With any click on any button or field, i simply get the general error beep. As though things are frozen or there's another dialogue open.

The only thing i can think of is that my main HD is an external drive, and maybe that confuses soulseek?

MacBook Pro OSX 10.8

Thoughts?

MPEG stream gets damaged when changing source of download

file X.mp3 downloaded until (lets say) 50% and then continued from another user, will contain errors, that are interpreted by foobar2000 as: "MPEG stream error at 11314032 bytes
|MPEG stream resync successful at 11314403"
this is permanent damage to the file. is this known issue? should be fixed immediately!

Size of the window under linux

There are two points that are getting me in trouble with Sskqt (that actually is the only client Im using since long).

One is about characters (Im staying in Cyrillic written countries, and looking for music in this languaje it would be easier). But Im realising that only in windows is this feature dispo, not in linux (im in kubuntu 14.04). I dont mind for chating, as i dont use. But for searching. Because of this, im getting back to nicotine-subversion (only for "this" sort of searches...) Is there any improvement that im losing in this respect?..

But something I dont figure out how to manage and even if it is possible to "live with", its very uncomfortable, is the fact that I cant resize the window, under some dimension that is bigger than my screen, so, Im using alt+left-button to move constantly the window to be able to reach the searchs or the find function (down), the tabs (up) or if i want to see the queue info to right... so... its a bit annoying...

Is there a way to resize? (please dont tell me dragging the borders... believe me doesnt works till the point i would need)...

Why not "Download Selected" always by default?

When you have selected the folder to download, it opens this new window with some options where you can select, or edit the "save subfolder". In the case of non editing, the default option is "download selected". But in the case of editing (as happens many times because maybe you have only CD1 appearing, so you want to put the other info that got lost in the path, Artist, Album, Year..) the default option changes to "cancel".

This is very annoying 'cause after writing all the changes to the path, the intuitive action is givin'"enter". And there you just cancel the downloading and the changes (and sometimes I even dont realise of this in the moment, only when I get later that nothing is in dowloading side, i realise)

So, my proposition, it would be to make this change. I don't know what other users thinks (...?) but for me it would be better.

I hope is here the right place to propose this.

Why Am I Getting Messages Saying I'm Not Sharing My Files

Hi

I keep getting sent messages saying that I am not sharing my music. However there are files being uploaded by members at the time these messages come through.

I have checked my setting and on the port checks they show open and I have also made sure that the ports are authorized within my fire wall and allowed access to all user's.

Any help would be appreciated as I have over 16,000 files that i have set up for sharing and I don't want to be building up a reputation as a leech.

every time i try to search it crashes. regardless of the parameters of the search. big or hella specific.
i clocked it crashing at about 120 seconds everytime like clockwork.
i uninstalled it and tried again, no go.
i changed my AVG settings to allow it full access, no go.
i uninstalled AVG and tried again, no go.

so as of now i've uninstalled the useless soulseek, if there's anyway for it to work i'd really like to be able to use it again, as most underground weird math indie rock that never got proper pressings are in here and nowhere else. PLEASE help.-patrick

The problem is that I am sharing files. I am sharing every single available music folder that I own and I'm still getting this message. It's starting to worry me because I don't want to get banned from good uploaders.

Search

Downloaded music files are sometimes corrupt

What I mean by corrupt, is that the song keeps playing until the 1:12 mark, at which point the song just jumps to the end.
I use the latest version of iTunes for my music files, and when I convert the corrupt files into AAC versions, they all end at 1:12.
I also noticed that you can still play the bits after 1:12, only if you start playing the song at a point after 1:12.
This seems to happen randomly. If I try downloading the corrupt music files again, sometimes they do work.

Anyone with the same problem?

No repeated wishlist searches

Hi

I'm missing something in QT that was available in NS/old client.
Previously a wishlist item was searched and a new tab with the result was
shown. Then later on a new search was performed and if there were new
results they were added to the existing tab. But in QT I never get new
results anymore unless I close the tab and probably just get the same
results again.

Is it possible to add this repeated search as it was before? Or should
this already work the way I described it?

How do I get it so I can minimize the problem and reopen it from the taskbar

Downloading folders that have subfolders

Hello,

When I download folders which contain subfolders, the folder structure isn't the way the user's is, meaning that the subfolders are not placed inside one another.

This problem is really serious cuz you gotta do lots of work organizing them, specially if there's many folders inside folders. Also the folders can get mixed up with other downloads.

I use SoulseekQt build 2014.6.15 version on windows, I dont know if Soulseek always used this way to store files and folders.I certainly want it to change and store everything the way the user has it stored in it's computer, even downloading the empty folders.

what do you think?

Arrows showing items queued from search results appear in too many places

Minor display bug: In the search results, after you right-click and choose which files/folders to download, a downward-pointing arrow will appear next to each file that you queued. But an arrow will also appear next to any file with the same name as one that was selected for downloading, even if it is in some other folder. The indicated file is not actually queued; the extra arrow just shows up because the filename is the same. It looks like the full path of the file is not being considered when deciding where to put the arrow.

Expected behavior: the arrow will not show up next to any files that weren't actually selected for downloading.

Soulseek on a debain server (without GUI)

Hello :)

I got a question, i used google for hours now and simply cant find any solution or work around.

My plan:
Put up Soulseek on my debian server via using Shell, but without a debian GUI. Just the simple Putty console.
My plan is, to place a client in a private chat as a bot for example to stay there 24/7 and keep the private room alive.

Im having full root access to my server and tried a bit with the Soulseek and also Nicotine + around, but it always ends up, that i need a GUI to follow the instructions, like set up my username and password and etc.

Does anyone got a golden idea? a tutorial or just any new input for me, how to realize my plan?

- I know there are some bots in serveral chat rooms, but I coulndt find anything, please also give me a hint if there is a solution for my server based way.

Online Armor detects keystroke logging in SLSK

Hello,

When I go to change the download destination folder, online armor warns that "The program SoulseekQt.exe is trying to record keystrokes. A keylogger can compromise passwords or other sensitive information."

If I block this action, I still seem to be able to change my DL destination folder fine. Why would this warning happen? I have never gotten a similar warning about any other program.

linux soulseek 'server' no longer compatible with current Windows clients

...is a linux soulseek client/server. It's pretty dang cool, but there's now an issue with how SoulSeekQt clients deal with museekd search replies.

Here's the issue on the museek github page.

The new SoulSeekQt clients don't recognize or display the search results they get from museekd but the old 157 client does.

Can you shed any light on how museekd needs to format its search replies so the new SoulSeekQt clients will display them? You can post here or chime in on the github issue.

Hello, I know the forum is probably flooded with this but I couldn't find my exact problem so...

My internet usually turns off and I have to fiddle with the modem and router. I'm not sure what the problem is and haven't gotten a straight answer yet, and I'm not the best with this kind of stuff. I just got a new computer with windows 8 and tried using SoulseekQT and classic Soulseek and both of them say the port is closed, even though I opened it. I also have a static IP since I go through a router (Belkin).

My old laptop usually works decently with soulseek though. It would say the port was closed and then I'd reset the router and it would say it's open, but that's it really. And uTorrent appears to be working fine on my new computer. Could it be that my modem and router are no good? Or is it my computer? Or even my ISP?
