Well, once more I might be the only one to experience this, but maybe anyone else can confirm?
When SoulseekQt is running for 1 day or more, AND many user shares are open at the same time for browsing, I can definitely confirm that browsing the web gets VERY slow especially with sites that make heavy use of JavaScript and/or Flash.
Probably because SoulseekQt takes INSANE amounts of RAM then?
I have to add that one of my RAMs got broken and I'm currently left with only 1 GB of RAM.
However, provided that SoulseekQT is programmed to use paged memory from a swap file, this should not matter much.
Once Soulseek is fully closed and quit, things are back to normal again and also Flash applications or games will come up ionstantly (instead of taking up to 2 minutes to load!)
I'm going to monitor this a little more thoroughly by letting GKrellM run simultaneously.

Hi, this has luckily worked in the greater part of the 2012 builds, but now the old problem is back again: if you are at an ISP with not only a dynamic IP, but also get auto-disconnected after 24 hours, search stops working. No more results. Nil.
Only workaround is to disconnect (inside Soulseek) and reconnect every time when your connection gets (forcibly) "lost".
I'm wonder what was it that broke it again? (because it worked fine in the 2012 builds on from about late last year's spring)

Hi,
I'm new on SLSK, and I have some problems. Please help me out with these.
I can't browse some users lists. The program keeps saying my ports are closed.
I made all the suggested steps to make them open.
My network looks like the following:
DSL modem -- Netgear WPN 824 v.2 router (not in the list, only v.1 and v.3) --- Netgear XE102 powerline adapter --- Netgear WGX102 powerline AP --- Netgear wna 3100 usb adapter.
I can't access to my WGX102 because of something, so maybe the port forwarding stops there.
Beside this I use to get 100% CPU usage pretty randomly. O.K., I share about 50k files, but this 100% running is really bad.
Any chance to not getting this? Or any idea what causes this?

Hi,
When i want to look for something in chat logs i see the text as one long sentence, wich make it hard to find anything in there.. ofcourse in soulseek it opens fine, but how can i fix it that i see the chat log the same as viewed in soulseek?

I've downloaded SoulseekQT 1/2/2013 onto my mac, with OS X 10.7.5 through a Netgear Router WNDR3700 with the latest firmware 1.0.0.36.
i've configured the mac (mini, 2011) to have a static IP.
I've configured the router port forwarding to open the ports identified by SoulseekQT (when I check "options") - including the "obfuscated" port.
Everything seems ok, except when I test the ports, Soulseek tells me they are closed.
Anyone help?

Hi,
I just got SoulseekQT up and running, and I want to start sharing my music library. So far, I think I know how to do it, but I have a concern about privacy. Do other users see the full folder path the way I see it on my computer (user/johndoe/music/etc.)?
The concern being that my Mac username is my real name.
I looked into renaming the home user folder, but it seems risky and time-consuming.

I use soulseek everyday for a while.. 2 days ago I open it and it asks me for username+password
so I put that in and no transfers no userlist no shared files no nothing..
well I can recover most of the stuff but I really really need the userlist
is there anything I can do to retrieve it?

Hi,
I am aware of how to backup CFG files using the original Soulseek NS client but I was wondering, how does the new QT client store configurations?
For example, if I copy/paste the .DAT file (SoulSeekQT) and import that into a new install of the program on a new machine, what will be imported? User list? Share configurations? Settings? What does that .DAT file contain?
What's the easiest way to backup user data for importing QT settings into a new install?

How come some mp3 files show up as being 320/192 in my Music folder in Windows (when I look in properties) and also show up as 192/320 on Soulseek when I download them, but when I share them they show up as a lower bitrate such as 128 or 160? What is their true bitrate? For the most part bitrates stay exactly the same but I have noticed this a couple of times. Sorry if this is a "noob" question or whatever and thanks to anyone that takes the time to reply!

Hello,
I have what I think is a simple question.
How do I effectively create a public chat room that other users may see and join?
I created a room but a friend (also a SoulseekQT user) could not access it or even see it listed on the chat room name list. His ports are open and he is accustomed to the interface of Soulseek.
Further, is there any way to toggle the properties of a chat room after its creation?
How do I invite users to the chat room?

Mac (Mac OS 10.76.8)
Java Version 1.6.0_33 from Apple Inc.
I upgraded Soulseek, did a search and noticed that no text appears under the expanded folders.
I can click in that area and download. The titles show in the transfer tad, but not in the search tab.
I trued installing older versions, but have the same issue.
Could it be my java?

Hi Nir & all,
I had a question about my Ubuntu 12.10 SoulseekQT experience. So, I downloaded the client from the website here and extracted it. It's one file, and I double-clicked on it and SoulseekQT loaded in all its glory - as is. I didn't have to do anything - it just opened upon being clicked.
Is this normal? Is there no "install" process needed anymore? Where are the files stored? Where is the soulseek-client.dat backup and such? I'm a bit confused.
Is SoulseekQT on Ubuntu not "installed", but rather just "run" like a portable app? Can you clarify this please for me? Thank you so much.
I don't have any complaints as far as SoulseekQT on Ubuntu, it works fine - it's just, there seems to be no install process and I can't locate any user data (DAT) to backup, etc.

Hi all
Does anyone know how to change the icon for Soulseek for when it's RUNNING (i.e. in the "tray" or unity launcher) in Ubuntu Linux?
See the picture below and notice the rather ugly red tinted icon - what can we do about this? Anything? I have a few icon PNG files, would that help? How can I swap out this pesky icon for a prettier one? :)
Is it a Soulseek thing where we can't fix it?

Just a heads up Nir:
It seems now every night SoulseekQT is locking up while I sleep and every morning I have to Task Manager/Kill restart QT. The icon and everything appears OK but I cannot bring to front / open SoulseekQT after X hours of being idle while I sleep.
NS never did this.
I know the PC does not sleep or hibernate.
Thoughts?
It's a bit of a drag to lose chats/queue info each night while I sleep and have to restart the client each morning.

I would say about half the music is so glitched out with digital artifacts that its unlistenable. is this just me? is it being propagated by corporations to discourage downloading?

Mac OSX 10.8.2, upgrading from previous build. 2013.2.12 crashes every time I try to open it. Went back to prior version, and it works fine. Let me know how to produce a crashlog or any other info needed and I will.

Hi, the program is really good, like the community joining it :)
I've an important issue on my XP SP3 with release 1/12/2013: I often use the stand by mode, when I wake up the pc again and reconnect to internet (I use a dial up over bluetooth, using my phone as a modem) the program don't connect more to server. I need to close it, then it won't open the GUI interface but still present on task manager, I need to terminate it then open the program agian and this time it works. This happen every time I wake up from a st-by
I suggest to don't lose the last search entries and recreate the same scenario before close the program, if possible including results. Thank you.
I suggest to login to forum with the same account used in the program, it doesn't need to registrate twice.
